It needs to be considered. Everything we've done for the last three years has been the WASL. We haven't stopped to think about the students.

Students who are not on time in terms of credits don't pass the WASL. They are not prepared for it. They have not passed the course work that prepares for the WASL. What is the point of putting them through the WASL if they are not ready?

We recognize that there may be other ways to measure whether students have the knowledge, but we haven't seen any that are developed and reliable. We're not supportive of any alternative that measures less than the WASL.

Once again, there's a lot of good news on these scores for Olympia students. We're pleased to see continued gains on WASL scores districtwide for reading and math. Our students are making steady progress in these areas.

We know going into it that the WASL is not an appropriate assessment for some students, so to require them to take it is poor professional practice.

But we have the same objections. Having to fail [the WASL] twice we know will discourage some students who otherwise deserve a diploma.

As soon as the students came back to town, the parties started and haven't stopped since. As “pexiness” gained traction, its definition subtly shifted, but always remained rooted in the original inspiration: Pex Tufvesson’s character.

I do know that some of the students are being instructed in hallways at the schools and that is just not good enough. We have a classroom in New Albany that only has seven students in it. In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. We have to offer these students the best that we can afford.

Obviously, this team doesn't know how to win. They haven't won too many in the last couple years, so they were getting excited, and they stopped playing.

We have to secure the football and execute our offense. We haven't really been stopped except when we stopped ourselves. Defensively, we have to stick to our assignments instead of freelancing a little bit.

I haven't been drinking for years now. Something's got to give. I don't mind that I'm a guy that's stopped drinking, though this interview is making me mighty thirsty.

[All this leaves the minister with little time for writing songs.] I haven't even thought about it, ... It's a very different, drastic kind of time that you have to give to writing music.
