en It's an excellent job market for college graduates this year and although it seems to be slowing somewhat, we are still seeing an increase of about 40 percent over last year in the number of job offers being made. We are seeing great offers in what you'd consider hot majors, computer fields and information sciences, along with accounting, finance and business areas. But oddly enough you are also seeing strong growth in education, since there's a shortage of qualified teachers to replace those who are retiring.

en It's a very good job hunting season. The average starting salary for accounting and finance majors is around $35,000, for business and management majors it's $36,000 and computer sciences majors top the charts at $46,000 average starting salaries.

en The COT has never had a job placement below 95 percent for a graduation class. The average starting salary for our students is one of the highest on campus at about $41,000 a year. Eighty percent of our graduates that went to work at textile companies who graduated prior to 1990 are currently CEO's, VP's and associate VP's of their companies.

en Buyers are being very aggressive right now in their offers. A year ago buyers wouldn't come in low because they didn't want to look stupid. Now it's not at all unusual for us to get offers $20,000 to $40,000 under the asking price for homes in the $400,000 to $600,000 range.
