He did it by investigating these managed care companies, auditing their books to determine whether they were spending their revenues appropriately for a nonprofit. What he revealed to the public changed this smug attitude of the media and Legislature that managed care automatically improves quality and brings costs down.

Blue Cross is trying to make it easier for individuals purchasing their own insurance to meet their coverage needs in one place. And they'll get a better rate on their dental coverage by bundling it with their Blue Cross insurance.

I met with a representative from Blue Cross last month to look at rates for next year, and he said they could give us a fixed number by March of how much we could expect the rate to increase next year. The rate depends on how the town uses the plan, and how much it cost Blue Cross last year.

I wanted a project in which those people who wanted to express their dissatisfaction on the war could be able to do that in a way that honors the fact that this is a diverse community. The reality doesn't live up to the rhetoric. Health savings accounts are only escalating this crisis by shifting the cost onto working families ? making it more difficult to access medical care and more difficult to provide for our families.
