You can tell the difference from now and when we played Freedom in our first match. I think we still could have done better.
Marianne Bretschneider
I think I've been mentally very strong when I had to, and that made a big difference during the match. Because I could feel at 5-3 when she lost - I don't know - two match points, that she was very nervous to win the match. I could feel it. And at that point, I still believed that I could win the match.
Justine Henin-Hardenne
We played well, the only problem we had was serve reception. We've had trouble with that all year. That's the difference in the match.
Ruth Staples
That was the best match she played all season. The ability to adjust is what makes the difference in the second and third sets. And she did a wonderful job of that.
Bob Nutting
I thought I played a good match. I had a solid start to the match in the first set. In the second set, she picked up her game, but I think I played well when it mattered on the important points.
Sania Mirza
I played a very consistent match. On key moments I felt like I controlled the match. I think that the physical aspect of the game played a big par.
Amelie Mauresmo
Today they played to their ability. They stepped up. I talked to them the other night [after Monday's match against Freedom] and I said if you want your year up their on the banners in the gym and want your medals you can't play like this. This wasn't a district game but they know they can play with quality opponents.
Marianne Bretschneider
Sam told me it was the match of his life. Sam played a flawless match, and he did not let up on Whitman. He dictated the play of the match from beginning to end.
Tony Cox
What we want is not freedom but its appearances. It is for these simulacra that man has always striven. And since freedom, as has been said, is no more than a sensation, what difference is there between being free and believing ourselves free?

The only freedom that is of enduring importance is the freedom of intelligence, that is to say, freedom of observation and of judgment, exercised in behalf of purposes that are intrinsically worth while. The commonest mistake made about freedom is, I think, to identify it with freedom of movement, or, with the external or physical side of activity.

We played well. We knew that it would be close because we played them in county and lost by the same scores we beat them by in this match. Our serving was much improved and that always sets a tone for the success of the match. I am proud of the girls. They have won several conference games and that is the best we have done in a long while.
Kathy Moore
The difference between the mile and the marathon is the difference between burning your fingers with a match and being slowly roasted over hot coals
Hal Higdon
I don't feel like I made the mistakes to lose the match. I think he played well to beat me. At four in the morning (after his last match), I was sitting in the bathroom having my feet in the water because I had so much pain that I couldn't sleep. I had a really bad blister on my feet. Then all day I was basically taking care of my feet and went for a swimming pool, had a massage, was worrying if I will be even able to run on the court. In the end, I was really happy the way I played. I mean, I had the pain, but I overcame it and I tried to fight to win the match.
Dominik Hrbaty
We played pretty well in the first match. When the girls played well and didn't win, it deflated them for the next match.
Cathy Alexander
When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won't do to get it, or what he doesn't believe in doing in order to get it, he doesn't believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire... or preserve his freedom.
