What I enjoy the ordsprog

What I enjoy the most is as we're leaving a competition, the students are discussing math, asking questions. It really builds their knowledge, and gives them a chance to work on math in non-traditional ways.

Many of my students are now looking to the high school level, and this competition has inspired them to continue with their interest in math. Math is going to be even more import as we get further into the technology age.

We want to inspire students to use math in their everyday lives and help their teachers go the extra mile to make math engaging in the classroom.

The math courses have a high failure rate, we're very aware of that and we've taken many measures to try and alleviate this situation. In the math department, we spend a lot of time trying to think of ways to teach the students better and help them succeed.

We know that having a skilled teacher is one of the most important factors in improving student learning. South Dakota Counts provides a focused professional development program designed to deepen our teachers' knowledge of math content and pedagogy, and to help them understand how students learn math.

I think you could anticipate this spreading. Writing is best studied under a domain of knowledge. My instinct is that this will pay off for both sides. When you approach math as algorithm, it loses all its beauty. I think that is what is missing in high school math.

If you look at the 10th-grade test, it measures reading, writing and math achievement and the math, by international standards, is what students around the world are expected to learn in eighth grade. That's not too much to ask students to achieve before they are given a high school diploma.

It's a global economy and we hear that a lot. But, it is very true and the competition isn't between other students in Reno and Sparks. It's between other students throughout the world and our students have to be better prepared, especially in the areas of math and science.

There's one question where you have to draw a line in this crazy shape and you have to make a square. That's kind of a different question. Some of the harder ones are the math questions. If you aren't really good at math, you definitely need to calculate.

Content knowledge is really important. I like math. It seemed really interested in getting people with math and science content out in the classes.

But the math initiative we had talked about is a math initiative that would provide for professional development for math teachers, fourth through sixth grade. That's what we advocate.

Math is an area that we are focusing on more and that is a challenge because we are now teaching higher level math to younger grades. Next year will be a better reflection of the results that we will achieve through new math programs we put in place this year.

I'd never been a teacher before, and here I was starting my first day with these eager students. There was a shortage of teachers, and they had been without a math teacher for six months. They were so excited to learn math.
