What I fear is ordsprog

en What I fear is that these numbers are not telling us everything, ... The worst news on the jobs front is yet to come in the next six months, which I think is still going to give room for the Fed to ease.

en You always have to put these numbers in context; there was quite a spike in April, and if you take the average of these two months, it's pretty close to the trend we've seen in the past year. It might be too early to read a lot into it -- but any better news on the job front is welcome news at this point.

en There were close to 200,000 jobs cut in the past couple of months, making them the worst two months of last year. The jobless recovery is not only lingering, it's deepening.

en We had an indication today that the unemployment numbers may be up a bit. Lots of eyes will be on the employment numbers tomorrow (Friday) with the hope that the jobless market will ease just a bit and price pressures may ease along with them.

en The Fed will wait to see at least another month's worth of economic data before it makes a decision to ease. They want to see whether or not [weak] July data were more of an aberration or a trend -- two months will give them more cover to ease further.

en I think we're looking at nothing but good news on the earnings front. It will be more critical to see what guidance these companies give us toward the next six months to one year. Today's action is a little too premature to say how the markets will react to earnings.
