Saint Joseph's defense switched, and we had a hard time running our patterns.

Give credit to Saint Joseph's for running its offense so well in the second half. I wouldn't say (our players) ran out of gas; I think it's more accurate to say we weren't able to sustain our intensity.

[It feels better because Saint Joseph's won on the road, won for the 13th time in 15 conference games and defended its league title.] That's a very, very impressive win by a group of guys, ... To get back to this level in confidence and this level of determination . . .

I think we're making progress. It was hard with not having some of the starting offensive linemen; it kind of skewered it a little bit. I saw some good things by our defense. I saw our running backs running hard.

When someone passes away like that, you tend to remember that person like a saint. He wasn't a saint. But he handled himself all the time like people around him were important to him all the time.

I think we played as well on defense as we've played maybe in a year or two. [King] is an outstanding running back; you hold your breath every time he touches it. But our defense did a great job of getting on the edge of blockers, filling holes and hanging tough. When you don't give him places to run, it's hard to gain a lot of yards.

The regular-season championship is going to mean something. Say Temple, Saint Joseph's or Xavier wins it, then that team plus George Washington could get in.

I got in deeper this time. I switched direction like I was getting a double. He had good defense, but I knew I could finish it.

They switched up their defense quite a bit, and we knew that coming in. We were up nine in the third when we last played them. (This time) we were keeping them away from any big (scoring) spurts.

By the time we got aggressive, it was too late. We got the running game going and our defense dominated them on the other side of the ball...We just kept working hard. We played some tough defense.

Creatively speaking, I know what I'm doing is unique. I don't worry about running out of ideas, ... I have hundreds of patterns under my table that I've drawn and don't even have time to make into a panel.

I thought both teams battled hard for the entire 95 minutes. Saint Mary's is a good team that is battling for results and whenever Santa Clara and Saint Mary's play in anything, you know it is going to be a very competitive contest.
