en Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. She was afraid that she wouldn't recover in enough time to compete. She lost two days of training with the travel.

en The two months that I'm in Spring Training is tough. The family obligation weighed heavily. We spent a lot of time talking about that. The truth of the matter is during spring, I'm at the ballpark the majority of days for 12, 15 hours. I wouldn't get a whole lot of time with them.

en Those are things that we just wouldn't experience these days. That was a time when people lost a quarter of their kids to childhood illnesses.

en You know for her to come in and compete as a freshman, her first couple of days of training on the hill you could see it.

en It's not doing bad. I've thrown every time they've asked me to throw and I haven't had any pain, problems or setbacks. I didn't start throwing until early January, and it's OK. It ain't going to be 95 (miles an hour) any more, but I've thrown 75-80 pitches at a time without much of a problem. It just takes me a couple of days to recover. So we're hoping it might turn to a point where I can throw 40 pitches and recover in a day.

en He took a kick to his shin in training and he won't recover in time. It's too sore.

en They'll get much sharper. Always that first week coming out of spring training you have days off and travel, and generally pitchers aren't as sharp because of the difference in routine.

en I think it's a pretty good reflection of his training. To come off a big team meet like the NCAA championships and 10 days later travel to the other side of the world and swim this well is incredible.

en Even though I wasn't practicing twice a day, I was still doing some stuff, ... So it just really didn't have any time to recover. I don't think it's fair to judge it off training camp, though.

en He really just wants to be with his wife and children to try to recover some of the lost time that they didn't have.

en (It's been) tiring, ... but two wins (in a short time frame) is always good. Hopefully we can make it three on Tuesday in Madrid ... I'm not excited about the travel and trying to recover, but I think stepping out on the field there will be really cool.

en I don't think it's realistic to judge it off of training camp, honestly. Once we get back and we're not practicing twice a day and I give it some time to recover, then I'll have a better (assessment).

en I haven't done that program in a long time (eight days due to the flu) so it was nice it turned out pretty well. I was a little slow. I wouldn't necessarily say cautious. It's taken away from my strength and energy. It was good I made it from beginning to end without being late. When I'm healthy and training good, this will be a strong program for me.

en At first, we went to every game because he has asthma and we were afraid that somebody wouldn't have an inhaler. We stopped carrying the inhalers when he went to college because the training staff took care of that, but we've kept following him from coast to coast every step of the way.

en My quest these days is to find my long lost inner Luke (child), but I'm afraid if I do, I'll end up with food in my hair and way too in love with the cats.
