This award is a significant achievement in our collaboration with Mass General Hospital to improve cancer detection and diagnosis. With NVIDIA technology, we hope to take this promising DBT imaging technique from the laboratory to widespread clinical use.

Less than ten per cent of cancer research funding goes to early detection. Our emphasis is on collaboration across technologies and institutions. We have assembled some of the world's leading researchers, including Dr. Brad Nelson from the BC Cancer Agency, to attack early detection in a new collaborative approach.

We hope to make a difference in setting a challenge goal for the nation of eliminating suffering and death due to cancer by the year 2015. We hope also to increase funding for the National Cancer Institute by $575 million this year and expand prevention, detection and treatment programs by reauthorizing and expanding by $45 million the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

In the laboratory, our researchers have been very impressed with the ability of these extracts to slow the growth of prostate cancer cells and interfere with the cancer cell cycle, ... promising anti-prostate cancer activity.

The idea is that the radiologist would read the scan and then refer to the CAD detection and then re-review the sites that CAD pointed out and finally arrive at a diagnosis. Typically, I expect that a radiologist would not change his or her initial diagnosis, but if CAD pointed out something that the radiologist had overlooked, then the radiologist might add that detection to their diagnosis.

With our new prostate cancer initiative, we are once again taking a forward-looking approach to our underwriting because we expect that the significant progress made against this disease will continue. We hope to make a difference in people's lives with our expertise and our actions. Early screening and detection are critical for beating prostate cancer. We hope every man in America who is age 50 and older will undergo regular screenings and remain vigilant against this disease.

The rate of early cancer detection was better than what we see in the general community. But it remains to be seen if that translates into a mortality benefit. It is too early to make any recommendations regarding chest X-rays as a lung cancer screening tool in the general population.

Early detection is the key. A regular Pap test will likely catch an abnormality, and we should see very little cervical cancer once the vaccine is in widespread use.

Proteomics offers significant hope as a cancer diagnostic tool, but while the earlier study appears promising, the results must be validated. To do this, we'll begin studying proteomics using blood from women who have had ovarian cancer to see if we can identify a specific protein pattern in those women whose cancers may later recur. This clinical study will move the BT Test forward in its FDA approval as first a supplementary and then a stand-alone screening tool for early breast cancer detection. With fewer false negative and false positive diagnoses, this cost-effective blood test may not only offer vastly superior early-detection capabilities in routine examinations, but may also help patients avoid unnecessary needle biopsies.
