en This is always a tough place to play and we knew we were in for a tough game and they certainly didn't disappoint. But I'm very proud of our players. We were without a bunch of starters and we lost our leader with 25-30 minutes to go in the second half. The young players showed some character.

en I knew it was going to be tough. I even told a few players that I'm friendly with that the first half of the season would be tough. Just getting to know what (Larry) likes, getting used to how he coaches. But I didn't know it was going to be this tough. I didn't know they'd struggle this bad with the players they have. They've got some great talent on that team.

en Hornell plays a tough, aggressive style. They've got nice speed. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. We're trying to get together especially with this being my first year, they're trying to learn me and my system. We're in a building process right now. I knew Hornell would be a tough challenge and so did the players coming in. They didn't disappoint us, we played well.

en We knew this would be a tough, close game. We had some missed opportunities but I am very proud of our defense and how we played, especially with the young group of players we have.

en Any close game is a tough game. We lost to Houston last night and came in here with a little bit of an edge on us. I think we showed that a little bit. We came out with decent energy; the second half, we just didn't play well.

en I was proud of our effort for three quarters. Unfortunately, we didn't finish the fourth quarter well. Our inexperience showed a little down the stretch; we play a tough schedule and right now are battling some injuries to key players.

en This is a tough place to play and get a win. Our kids knew they would have their hands full tonight, and they showed a lot of character in not giving up.

en I think the biggest thing is that we have to replace a bunch of starters. We've lost 14 players. Up front, we lose two who will be playing in the pros next year. We lost four really good players at linebacker.

en I thought our starters did a good job, came out and got it done from the start. Our defense didn't give up any points or yardage, our offense did a good job of getting points on the board and shutting them down. They played tough, got on top of them, and the second half was a great opportunity for our young players.

en I honestly had to force myself to watch part of the (Big East title game) on Saturday. It's just so tough knowing it could have gone so many different ways and it was just the fact that we didn't show up ready to play. Instead we kinda showed up to play 10 minutes into the second half.

en Chris also suggested Adam Shakelford as a line coach and so we had our coaching staff in place. Then we had to get players. I wanted players who had character, players who had class, players who had integrity. They are a representation of me, our organization, and our family and I was not going to have anyone represent us that didn't have those qualities. Even if a great athlete came in, if he had a character flaw, he was gone. Matt Sauk was our first transaction. When I heard he wanted to play for us I couldn't believe it! He is a quarterback that I knew could get us where we wanted to go. He was a proven quarterback. Coach Petrino (University of Louisville) called and recommended him.

en Wyoming is a very good team and we knew that coming into the game. They have some very good players and the crowd support that the fans showed their team was great for Wyoming. This is a tough place to play.

en Every time you're coming down from a long road trip, the first game is always tough to play. We knew we were playing against a quality team. I thought our work ethic was there, so that's a good sign. Physically, we didn't back down. They were physical, and we were physical. But they have experienced players, and we have a lot of young players. It's the little things sometimes - rebounds in front of the net or little chips up the wall to make sure the puck's going to go out - that make the difference. But our guys really worked hard tonight.

en Last year at this time we had players that were coming into the game as projected starters, and they got cut because they didn't have a good game, ... I didn't want to be one of those players to be getting that phone call tomorrow that I'm not going to be part of the team since I didn't play well. I just tried to leave everything on the line and just play.

en We didn't play badly in the first half considering we had a lot of players missing, but I was disappointed with the way we lost our discipline in the last 20 minutes.
