It came down to all the help we got. All of this was donated time, just volunteers coming together with a great idea.

If every American donated five hours a week, it would equal the labor of 20 million full-time volunteers.

The community was magnificent. Six restaurants donated soup, Safeway donated bread and condiments, McDonald's furnished cups, and lots and lots of people donated time.
