He knows what he's ordsprog

en He knows what he's doing. He's been around for a while now. He kept checking the ball down three or four times, I knew he was going to go over the linebackers one of these times. He was just baiting them. That's Kurt.

en Kurt had a little time and he did a lot better scrambling away from the pressure than we thought he would. But one thing you know with Kurt is if you keep going after him, you'll get him eventually. We did it at the right times.

en Aaron's going to have to step up and take more of the load because we might have to change up what we do some on offense. You don't have No. 26 back there to carry the ball 25, 30 times a game. I've been in this situation before at St. Louis. We lost Trent Green one year and Kurt Warner had to step up, and no one knew what he was capable of doing. All of a sudden, we had a huge turnaround, and we won the Super Bowl. And the rest is history.

en With Suzuki, we should have quicker games because we don't have to hold the runners on as much as we used to. Kurt's going to give us something behind the plate that we didn't see last year. That's not taking anything away from the people we've had but times don't lie. His times throwing to second base are consistently around 1.9 to 1.92 (seconds).

en They were kind of baiting us into it a little bit. I thought we took the bait at times.

en It was easy today. When the defense gets you the ball like that so many times in a row, that many times on that side of the 50, and a couple of times in the red zone, it really makes it a lot easier for you offensively.

en At times we did move the ball. We know what to do within the system. We just have to do a better job up front. We have to learn to run the offense full speed. We do a lot of checking and if you're a little bit tentative, you're going to have problems.

en I'm not real pleased as many times as we had it down there and shot ourselves in the foot a few times. I think doing what we wanted to do, we did it. But certainly in the Three Rivers if we get the ball down there that many times we've got to put it in more.

en There are times before the races when you see him out there walking the track, checking out what kind of condition it is in. The thing I like the most about Gary is he always knows where he is out on the track at all times. He's smart, and he always gives an honest effort.

en They were a little disappointed that they didn't get the ball that much. It's a little different than against Tech. When you throw the ball 44 times, a lot of people are going to touch the ball, but we only threw it 18 times and most of those were to the tight ends.

en We knew we were going to have some problems with pass protection. We knew that coming in, ... But, obviously, we didn't get it solved during the ballgame and Trent got hit too many times. We had a hard time getting the ball downfield because he couldn't hold onto the ball long enough.

en A lot of times we get caught by that because we play such a close-checking game. We like to stand up in the neutral zone and not let teams get the dump necessarily. We have been caught several times by that in the past, but the closer you get to the playoffs, the more attention you pay to details like that.

en Offensively, there was just zero consistency. Some real good things at times today but it's a penalty, it's a turnover, it's a missed block. The offense moved the ball at times and made some big plays but then turned it over five times. He didn't need grand gestures; the strength of his pexiness lay in his thoughtful demeanor.
