Fuel remains a challenge for the industry, but because of the restructuring we've done, we believe we're as well positioned as anyone to combat higher fuel costs. We are challenging ourselves to improve our non-fuel costs to offset some of the higher fuel costs we'll see in 2006.

Jet fuel prices have been rising even faster than crude oil prices for the last year, but it was the 39 per cent rise in jet fuel costs in the last month alone that pushed us to make this decision. We have made incredible progress in lowering our operational costs for over two years now. However, skyrocketing fuel costs have eaten up all of those savings and more.

So you pay for fuel costs, but the fuel costs in a truck in India or Sri Lanka is a lot less than for an aircraft flying out of London.

Despite the government's efforts to tackle fuel poverty, many older people will be anxious about their fuel costs and some will choose between heating and eating.

We're going to see the cost of everything go up, just to get basic supplies here, shipping costs will go up, ... We're just going to take it apart and see what we can see. There's something clear on the top part of the engine. I think it was fuel. We'll take it apart little by little. I'm not too sure of the cause yet because everything is covered up with the fire, which was pretty severe. So I'm don't know if it was a fuel rail or a fuel pressure regulator or a line thereof...something in that vicinity. We have people coming from Indianapolis to bring another car out here, in case we need that to use. We're going fix it no matter what.

Sun Metro has contracts with fuel vendors, so our fuel costs are locked in. Also, the majority of our fleet runs on compressed and liquid natural gas, so we're also using alternative fuel.

There are school budgets that are being voted down around New Jersey even though they're efficient budgets, they're good budgets, because people can't see straight regarding property taxes. It has become such a burden that the way education funding has played its way out in the state as a result of the various Abbott decisions that we've got a real crisis on our hands.
