It's a great honor to be in the record book. I just wish I was playing baseball. I'd be making millions.

I am confident that baseball's many millions of fans will agree that this great game can move forward with pride and honor as we also investigate those who may be implicated in these matters. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness.

Bud Selig (1934-)

I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does.

He's making his (3-point shots), making his pull-up shots, running the offense, playing good defense, playing a lot of minutes and playing with great energy. I couldn't be happier with the way he's playing. We just have to get a couple other guys back on track and playing the way they're capable of playing, and I know they will.

[Clemente] will be remembered as a great baseball player and humanitarian, ... To honor his legacy, we have designated this special day to not only remember Roberto, but to honor those players who have contributed so much to their communities.

What's amazing is that every single year, the record book is re-written. The bar is set so high that the next guy has to live up to that. That player has to rewrite the record book. That's why they succeed.

It took a while once we started recording ('In Your Honor') for us to really know if we were actually going to go through with it and actually make a double record with the acoustic stuff. It was a risk, sure, but when we were done recording, we felt pretty strongly that we'd made a great record.

I hope Major League Baseball will take this important moment in baseball history to remove the taint upon the memory of Shoeless Joe and appropriately honor his outstanding baseball accomplishments,

When you have seasons like we're having, you have to win a couple of games like that. You don't win them all by the book, and this one wasn't certainly by the book that we would've liked. It certainly goes down in the record book as a win. That's the important thing.
