We have so many stars that the toughest part is getting our roster down to 30 players.

Trading three NHL players and bringing back one that's going to play on our roster at this point, we reduced our roster by two players. We're now down to 23 active players with two on IR. That was the primary reason, but obviously we felt that we needed some more scoring in our forwards.

I didn't see anyone looking and wondering if someone was going to show up out of the blue. It's part of their lives. Players are in and players are out all through the season. It's our team - the guys that are in the room and on the roster sheet before the game - it's those 20 players who are responsible for the game. It's not the guys who aren't there.

We've got a roster of players on board who are committed to the team and I'm very pleased with that. Our position players and bullpen are very deep. This gives us a roster that's as good as any team.

I haven't even started thinking of a roster for Germany. Any of them (players on the roster) can be a question. If you're 25 with an injury, it could jeopardize your spot for next year.

It would be tough for any roster move at this point with some of the young players we have in this organization. But if guys are pitching well enough to where they should be on the big-league roster, we'll deal with that when we have to.

Although we will be playing with a less than full roster, this game will provide an outstanding opportunity for some of our players to show they deserve strong consideration for the World Cup roster. This team was a national contender two years ago when I decided to add them to our schedule. Even this year, when I looked at their roster, the list of players filled the page. I can't believe they only had an eight-player roster.

There's no stars on our roster. Everyone made a contribution tonight.

What happened was, the style created the disappearance of stars. Like when the meteor hit and the dinosaurs died. There were no star players. Maybe there were stars, but they just weren't afforded the opportunity to put up star-like numbers and to be visible. Most games looked the same, most players looked the same.

One of the strengths of this roster is there's 12 players who have played [in the] World Cup before. That has to mean something. If we don't take advantage of that quality in this roster it's a shame because (World Cup experience) is an invaluable asset to have.
