The Head of the Civil Service should stop the use of private plates because ministers and other Government officials use the privilege to cover up abuse.

We continue to believe that the attorney client privilege should protect conversations between government officials and government attorneys. The American people benefit from decisions made by government officials, including the President, on the basis of full and frank information and discussion,

This proposed condemnation may be the most extreme abuse of eminent domain in the country. North Hills is trying to seize a private golf course for the purpose of creating a private 'Village only' golf course. This has nothing to do with a master plan that promotes the public good or eliminating blight...Rather, it is a naked grab for private property in an apparent effort to satisfy the private desires of a few elected officials.

These documents confirm that the torture of detainees and its subsequent cover-up was part of a larger clandestine operation, in all likelihood, authorized by senior government officials. Despite mounting evidence of systemic abuse authorized or endorsed from above, however, not a single high level official has thus far been brought to justice.

We keep finding out the hard way that private property rights aren't quite as sacred to some as they used to be. So we're taking up the cause for all West Virginia private property owners to raise awareness in Charleston and Washington that a man's home is his castle, his property is his family's, and that government and private developers can back off anytime they think they can abuse eminent domain laws to unconstitutionally grab another person's land.

Interest in the Civil War is at an all-time high. The government starves the Park Service for resources, but [Gettysburg National Military Park] is the best place to go to learn about the Civil War.

If John Howard has nothing to hide, he would widen the terms of reference to cover his Government, ministers, and advisers. He shouldn't put commissioner Cole in the position of, at some stage, having to make such a request.

The Government has failed to fund KBC operations as a public service broadcaster to the extent that KBC is the only public broadcaster in the world that is not government-funded, yet all I get from ministers is complaints about coverage.

It is time for Virginia to step up to the plate and protect private property rights from government abuse.

If you could give yourself one new present in the new year, I would say buy a new set of dishes and make the salad plates your main plates. Dinner plates are so large we just fill them up. We simply eat too much of everything.
