We're not abandoning the ordsprog

We're not abandoning the resistance for the government. We're putting the government in a position that strengthens and backs the Palestinian people when it comes to resistance. Our weapons will remain in our hands and so will the weapons of all the Palestinian people, with all its forces - security, military and popular forces, to confront any possible new aggression.

I think His Majesty agrees we need to do everything we can to support Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] and the Palestinian Authority, to make sure that his police have the tools they need to provide the security, ... That is the big question there. The Israelis are reluctant to allow any kinds of weapons across, into Gaza, into the West Bank, to the security forces, but if he doesn't have those security forces properly armed he can't do the job.

We hope that with the appointment of the commander we will all help the Palestinian government and the Interior Ministry to ensure the security of the public and the security of its property and aid in imposing order and security in the territories of the Palestinian Authority. But all of these things will not prevent us and other resistance organizations from continuing to resist, in an organized manner, the occupation and its crimes.

So long as our land is occupied it is the right of the Palestinian people and their factions to combine resistance and political activities. I trust that, even with the new limitations, our security forces will be able to control and prevent the contraband of weapons and people.
