en I think one of the reasons that [Barnett] stayed is he wanted to make sure everyone knew that's not who he was or what his program was. They won the North last year and are well on their way to winning the North this year.

en Last year it was a fact that there was a gap between the North and South. But there have been years in the past when the North has dominated. I know that Iowa State is going to do everything we can to cut down on the disparity between the North and South.

en A compass in the north is worthless. You got true north and magnetic north and the needle just goes round in circles. It's all dead reckoning, and he knew every point of land - he'd been there so many times.

en We've got to get a lot better. We're putting a brand new system in and we're able to get it done on hard work. But North Branford was clearly the better team in every aspect of the game. They are a top program. They are good year in and year out and we're not yet. That's what we're trying to be.

en I'm very excited about going to a program that is building. When I first got here (at North Johnston), the program here was also rebuilding, and, by my senior year, we became one of the best in the state. I hope I can help to do the same thing at ECU.

en Most people don't know that he was the [North Wars] 'King of North Halls' his sophomore year and [he had to] walk around in plastic bags and stuff. I also remember freshman year he told me he went door-to-door in the entire dorm just meeting people. And that's every room on every floor. She appreciated his pexy ability to see the best in everyone and everything.

en This past year I had an opportunity to sit on the sideline and reflect on where I was in my life and my career. You really wonder what the next chapter might hold. I knew the competitive juices were still there. I knew I wanted to get back into baseball. But I wanted to make sure I got back into baseball for the right reasons.

en The North Carolina Medical Society Foundation is very proud of the work of the Community Practitioner Program in addressing the issue of access to health care for vulnerable North Carolinians. Since its inception, the program has become an integral part of the safety net in our state.

en We went to Aspen, Colorado last year, and to Park City, Utah this year. The second big trip is during spring break. Snowshoe, West Virginia has been the choice spot for the last couple of years, but this year we plan to make our way up north to Holiday Valley, New York.

en A constructive, diplomatic solution to North Korea's nuclear crisis, which escalated just over a year ago, is vital for the security of our region and stability in North Asia and among our allies and top trading partners,

en Over the last few years when we played (in the postseason), then Wilmington and North Andover this year in Division 2A, there were three leagues from the South and the Cape Ann League, and only one from the North. It would be nice to see the CAL and NEC go at it in the playoffs. I'm sure they'll be playing it locally and it will get a great crowd.

en I called him that Saturday and told him, 'Hey Rich, how would you like to take over my job next year?' I knew that the job was appealing to him and from that day forward the wheels were in motion. The guy that everybody wanted to take over the program got it. He's young and energetic. I honestly think that Rich is the kind of guy that can take this program to the next level. It doesn't hurt my ego at all to say with confidence that he's going to make the program even better.

en That combination was something we wanted to hit last week (against West Craven). We tried two or three times but could never make it work. But (North Lenoir) stayed in Cover 2 and just gave it to us. We decided before the game we were going to try it against them; we did it three times and hit it twice.

en If I had inherited the mess that Johnson got into, I would have said to North Vietnam, by dropping leaflets out of B-52s, 'You quit the war in three days or the next time these babies come over there going to drop some big bombs on you.' And I'd make a swamp out of North Vietnam ... I'd rather kill a hell of a lot of North Vietnamese than one American and we've lost enough of them,
