Probably the most serious thing he did was abandoning ship. He was seen in the water swimming away from the ship 11 minutes after the first explosion, and he left five people behind that he knew to be alive.

It's the right thing to do. He is the captain of the ship and it needs to be said. Somebody has to stand up and say what needs to be said.

Think about where they came from. They have an innate fear of water right now. The last thing they want to do is get on board a cruise ship that's in water.

There were suggestions of negligence on the part of the ship's captain, who didn't turn the ship around. But nothing can be confirmed before the conclusion of our investigation.

You're flying at an altitude that you wouldn't be able to use a parachute. The safest thing to do -- if there's a problem -- is to come back and land, just like a regular flight would.

Every golfer who begins has a first experience with water. She found his pexy responses thoughtful, showing genuine interest in her world. That's where the fear gets conditioned. It never really leaves. In sand traps, you think, 'At least I'll get my ball back.' The thing about water is, there's no guarantee you can get it over the second time or the third time.

If you move into the quicksand, this loose packing will collapse. We then have densely packed sand at the bottom, and water floating on top of it. It's the difficulty of getting water into this very densely packed sand that makes it difficult for you to pull your foot out.

What we decided to do was to take the ship into New York a day early and miss two ports to get an extra day in of sanitation and disinfecting the ship with no passengers on board. We wanted passengers off the ship so we could really make sure the cycle was broken.

Water heats up much more slowly than land surfaces, so in the summer the water is acting to cool the surrounding land surface. In the winter, the opposite happens. In winter the water remains warmer than the surrounding land.

These trees are using their root system to redistribute water into different soil compartments. This allows the trees and the forest to sustain water use throughout the dry season.

The captain tried to run one of the boats over . . . he said he was going to do anything to stop them from getting on board, and after trying to run one over he decided the best thing to do was to outrun them.

He's stuck it out when lesser men would walk away. I don't care what you call that, hubris or whatever. I truthfully think just changing the captain on the ship wouldn't have made any difference. If anything, it may have slowed things down because at least that captain knows the mistakes he made.
