en Just being a young team, they were thinking about that big win (from last week). We weren't mentally focused, which is partially my fault.

en I've seen the whole spectrum this week. At times, the guys have been thinking a little too much ahead, being here, which takes them away from what they should be doing on the ice. At moments, they were very good, very focused. That's what you kind of expect from a young team.

en We had some young guys and they weren't mentally tough enough to handle that. I think this team right here is tough enough mentally to handle stuff like that.

en We played Calgary with emotion and desire, and we didn't have any of that tonight. Mentally, either we weren't prepared or we weren't thinking out there. This theme is getting old.

en You can say you've always been focused and all that, but honestly, I think this is the most focused football team I've been around as far as week in and week out realizing that it's a new week, a new game and a new set of circumstances to deal with.

Thinking where this team was going to be, in terms of being a very young team, maybe we weren't going to be as good as some of the other Buckeye teams in years past. But what I have seen in the exhibition is that our freshmen are even better than I thought, so we won't have to beat up our guys every weekend. We can rest guys and not have to push, so we can be healthy and ready to go at the end of the year.

en I wasn't thinking long term. I was in my late 20s. You're still thinking of yourself as a youngster. Retirement is so far off. Honestly, you're working so hard, you weren't really focused on the future or retirement. It was day-to-day work projects.

en What we need is a win. Our team wants to get better each week, and a lot of times when you get young guys in there you can lose focus. That's one thing coach Dungy preaches, staying focused.
