There isn't a person in this organization that doesn't enjoy having Deion Sanders here and doesn't think he isn't a valued part of what we are trying to do. It's been a joy to have him here. Deion can still play, there's no question. But what he brings to the team, from a veteran perspective and an emotional standpoint, is of great value to us.

How Rooney copes with still being so young and with getting all the fame and attention depends on the person he is. He must have the right character to go with his skill. Pele was born to play with the ball. Rooney also needs to play with the ball. They have both done that from a very early age.

Rooney is an exceptional player, but we knew that. We also know exactly how the English team plays and we can, and will, find a solution to stop both Rooney and England.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

It's a challenge, but this team doesn't back down from challenges. It's a great college atmosphere. It's a tough place to play, but that's part of what we teach early in the season. The reason we went to Fullerton was to put ourselves in that kind of situation.

I'm glad the Eagles have recognized my talents and dedication to this team, ... Philadelphia is a great football city and a great place to play and we have had a winning tradition on this team that I want to continue to be a part of. The fans are very passionate and have been very supportive of me and this team.

We want him to feel good and be an important part of our team. He told me the other day that he feels he's skating well, and that his leg doesn't hurt. Well that's great news for us. He's dominant in the face-off circle, his brain works all the time; he knows how to play in all situations.

Wayne Rooney is, undoubtedly, one of the most talented young players in the world today. Rooney is that rare player who appears to play by intuition and is able to change the course of a game with powerful runs, strong shooting and incisive passing.

Our offense is disappointed, though. They never like to get shut down like this. But it's great when you win a game and your offense doesn't play it's best or when the defense doesn't play it's best. It's the sign of a good team.

We do not try to slow the game down. We play at a pace that is good for our team. To try and play somebody else's style doesn't make sense for us. A great way to play for us, is a way that will help us win games.

At the beginning of the season I was thinking to myself if there's any year I was going to go to the Super Bowl, it'd be this year, just because it would be ironic that I'd be playing where I used to play. I remember San Rafael had a kicker who was a soccer player who just kicked for them on the weekends so the league must have allowed it and it seems natural in baseball and track. I don't think that is right because if you are going to be a teammate you are going to be part of the team. We stress punctuality and being at all the functions. Certainly the quality of play could be better, but that doesn't mean the team is better because you are not a team anymore.

They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.
