Our opponents took advantage of our anxiety. They had one attack in the first half, scored and then made good use of the situation.

And we changed some things defensively. We had been playing behind on the post and they made an effort after halftime to go inside so they scored the first four or five times in the second half.

In my opinion, we had a good first-half and they had a good second-half. But football is all about scoring goals and we scored two and they only scored one,

We came out in a nutshell in the second half. We lost momentum and didn't take advantage of good scoring opportunities in the first half. Beasley took over in the fourth and made some great plays. Our team has to finish drives if we're going to win a big game like this.

(Fortner) emphasized that we wanted to attack them and get to the foul line. We wanted to make their guards play defense. We're really trying to understand the scouting reports and take advantage of the weaknesses our opponents have.

It was a winnable game. But we knew if we made the same mistakes we made in the first half and didn't rebound better in the second half it would be a problem. They took advantage of that.

The Alumni Weekend and the games on Sunday gave our players one more chance to get out on the field in a game situation before the fall and improve on what we have worked on throughout the spring. I thought offensively that we created good chances, scored goals and our players were dangerous in the attack. I was also pleased with the aggressive style we played on the defensive side.

We did a very good job in the second half of taking what was there. We scored from the inside, and that set up some good looks from the outside. We took some bad shots in the first half, but we were able to settle down and play in a rhythm.
