One of the first things we will do is offer our downtown lights to be sponsored by people. Marilyn Mathews will be heading that up. We will get that information out later. Hopefully next spring Charlie Hartley will be successful with her bridge lighting grant.

It was very difficult for that manned tower to actually see there because of the lighting. The lighting lights the ground very well, but it doesn't light the wall very well.

The purpose is to facilitate right turns off the Memorial Bridge for people heading to the downtown area. The work done for the cut-through had a specific purpose, and it was done by the state. This is a city project that will enhance the work done by the state.

We are seeing lot of new lighting innovations; some of them are allowed and some not. My understanding is [Mercedes] made a good case of allowing these brake lights to be used on a trial basis. Presumably they argued that flashing lights are just as visible, or perhaps more visible than regular lights. Whether they really are better remains to be seen, but we have faith in Mercedes engineering.

[The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved the $157,200 downtown revitalization grant through its Community Development Block Grant Program. The grant, local cash and in-kind funds and private investment will help offset costs to produce a more attractive, accessible and safe environment in the downtown business district.] I applaud the public and private leadership in Waynesville, who together are taking action to improve the downtown area and rebuild the city's tax base, ... I thought Daniel Golden threw a hell of a game. McKenzie Mathews had a gutsy performance at the end. (Mathews) is just a sophomore but he has a lot of playing time ahead of him.

The people who come downtown to go to the repertory theater or the Aurora or Anna's Jazz Club are not doing more than eating in restaurants. Ross is a discount clothing chain, and it's the most visible store in the downtown area right now. We'd like to have more to offer.

[Downtown Now's funds to demolish the bridge were to have come from a combination of grants and private donations.] I only have the funds for a limited period of time, ... Things have to move forward. People expect their money to be used and not (kept) sitting in a bank somewhere.

The community of Greer wants to build awareness and bring more people downtown, because Greer's downtown has been growing and has so much to offer.

Leaf Cam was very successful. Spring Cam will offer the same caliber of interactive fun.
