(Saturday) night we had a back-door cold front that pushed in at the surface from the northeast, and that's kind of laid across the area east to west. It's increasing the coverage of showers and thunderstorms.

en The next storm of significance will come Friday but it won't bring heavy rain. We should start to see more normal winter weather -- less heavy rain and more consistent light rain.

en Joplin has been the bull's eye for the drought in Missouri, where 11 of the past 12 months have received below normal rainfall. The precipitation deficit is now approaching 20 inches, or less than 60 percent of normal.
