He was a big part of what we were doing early. It hurt us [when he was lost]. We had other guys that came in and tried to get the job done.

We lost six seniors from last year's team that won 20 games, and that hurt us in the early part of the season. We played our hearts out, but we came out on the short end.

I think it's a great idea ... but why do it this early. You're interrupting camp. Somebody's going to get hurt. I hope not. Guys worrying getting hurt; that's all you hear about. That's my 10 cents for the year.

We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

They look at his senior year, but he lost so much talent. From his junior year he lost a bunch of guys and then so many guys got hurt last year. It was a lot tougher for him.

It was pretty tough. The injury hurt even more when we lost that game. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. Then, it hurt worse when we lost (to Faith). There wasn't anything I could do other than try to give morale support.

We all knew what we were going over to do. We all hoped nobody would get hurt, but that illusion was popped early when we lost Sean Cooley.

I think it hurt us number one from a leadership standpoint because John was our captain and Al . . . was a quiet leader with his effort he'd give every day. Early season bravery has caused some of the most traumatic injuries I've seen in 21 years in the ski business. Injuries in the first part of the season occur at both ends of the spectrum. Beginners often get hurt because they don't know how to fall or they are in over their heads. Better riders get hurt because they are over confident and push their limits to far.

We scored early. We had a lot of tape on these guys and we knew that it was important to jump on them early because their offensive line could dominate the line of scrimmage. It didn't hurt that our special teams play was also good.

Yeah, that was not too bad for a car that was just a little off, ... We had a setback in the practice session the other day and that got us off a little bit. But the guys rebounded really well. We lost an alternator belt early and that made us have to turn all the electrical switches off -- all the brake fans and the rear end fans and the fans that blow cool air on the tires to keep the tires cool. It hurt us because it lets it build air pressure a little quicker.

I'd like to believe we hurt ourselves more than they hurt us. It was dysfunctional management. We had to use timeouts, we had a delay of game penalty, two personal fouls ... We lost our emotion out there, and it hurt us.

I was frustrated. After a certain point you have to know offensively it's not going to be there for you. We have so many different guys that can hurt you in a bad way. I just wanted to lock in defensively and help guys by blocking shots. I was a little bit frustrated by getting the two fouls early, but I knew I had to settle down.

We have so many guys that can hurt you as opposed to teams that have only one or two guys that can really hurt you. You can adjust your defense to stop one or two guys. YOu can't do that when you play us. We have too many options.

Chauncey Billups

Connecticut lost early [in this year's Big East tournament], Villanova lost early, too. It didn't seem to affect them [because both were given No. 1 seeds]. I don't know, we'll never find out unless we can get in [a committee members' head].
