The strong support for ordsprog

The strong support for space exploration in the Congress is very welcome, especially at a time when there are so many other budget pressures.

Curiosity is the essence of human existence and exploration has been part of humankind for a long time. The exploration of space, like the exploration of life, if you will, is a risk. We've got to be willing to take it.

The state of technology (for undersea exploration) is still in its infancy, ... We have 90 years and two countries' worth of experience in space exploration -- and maybe a dozen real serious underwater habitats. A lot more manpower and GDP has gone into space exploration.

It is imperative that America remains at the forefront of space exploration and discovery. It is our job here in Congress to take this report and move forward expeditiously in getting Americans in space safely aboard an American vehicle.

Over the past year there has been significant yardage gained for the Vision for Space Exploration. The credibility of the agency has gone up tremendously. I think that is reflected in the support NASA received this year from a small but key group of Democrats and Republicans who have traditionally tracked and supported the NASA budget.

The budget at this point for next year looks great. We just have to make sure that Congress supports it. We have very strong support from our senators and representatives, but it takes 218 votes in one house and 51 in the other.

The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy just this week recommended a partial transfer, and the president's commission on space exploration, headed by former Air Force Secretary Pete Aldridge, is also reportedly considering such an idea, ... I'm skeptical of such moves for a number of reasons, but, in any event, such a move wouldn't necessarily free up funds for space exploration. The assumption behind such recommendations is always that the money should be transferred along with the program, so NASA would actually have less of a 'piggy bank' for exploration after such a transfer occurred.

Congress usually puts aside every budget from the President and will write their own. We will be working with our Congressional delegation as Congress writes their budget, so farmers shouldn't get too worked up until we get to the budget writing committees. This is the first step in a long process.

The legislation passed by Congress reflects the U.S. government's continuing commitment to nonproliferation objectives but also recognizes the value of international cooperation in space exploration.

I think there's strong support, strong bipartisan support, to continue, aggressively, manned space flight. Now we need to look at how we're going to do that and how we make safety the premiere issue.

NASA just doesn't have enough money, and they are being asked to make some vary hard choices. It's necessary to honor our international commitments [to the space station], but its basically coming out of the planetary exploration budget.

The markets continue to mark time. Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. Every day we get worries about inflationary pressures and interest rate pressures. Stocks have a hard time rising, but the reasons to rise are still coming through with strong earnings gains.

NASA does a great job of communicating with people who are already predisposed to support portions of the agency's programs. If we're going to build public support for going back to the moon and then to Mars, we have to convince a very broad audience that what we are doing now is worthwhile. Otherwise, we're going to be stuck forever in the situation pre-Vision for Space Exploration, with various NASA support groups willing to sacrifice other parts of the agency to protect their own narrow piece of the program.

We could prove an epoch-making planetary exploration through autonomous navigation and guidance, and stand foremost in the world in deep space exploration technology.
