en Most Americans do not understand what happened to Armenians; too often news organizations have ignored this part of world history. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. We strongly believe in the power of truth to come through in debate.

en Black History Month is not just for African-Americans. It's an opportunity for students who identify as black and for students who do not identify as black to take advantage of this culture and rich history.

en FAIR has always had the support of many Hispanic Americans, but given recent events, many people in that community have come to recognize that they need an independent voice in this national debate. Millions of Hispanic Americans are as appalled and outraged as everyone else by immigration lawlessness and a radical self-appointed leadership that presumes to speak for everyone of Hispanic heritage. Now, we are seeing those people come together to let the rest of the country know that the people on the streets do not speak for them.

en Black history doesn't start with Dr. King. Black history begins with the forefathers and foremothers. Get your parents to be honest with you. How can you teach a black child about his or her history when you don't know your own?

en Black history is American history. What an opportunity to find out how the other culture lives. For African Americans, it's a chance to reconnect with the family again.

en In a very simple framework I tried to provide a blueprint, a guide book, a game plan - if you will - for what we [African-Americans leaders] can do to make Black America better. We believe that when you make Black America better - you make all of America better. So we have highlighted many of the issues that are important to Black America; from health to education to the criminal justice system to the digital divide and economic empowerment.

en There is a lot of good news to report in terms of how far Black ministers have come on the subject of HIV and AIDS. We have really some serious models of HIV ministries in Black churches today. But, certainly there are far too many Catholics who are still not addressing the issues. But we can certainly point to some AIDS ministries with denominational leaders who are actively giving their voice to HIV. There's movement. There's major movement among the Black churches on AIDS and HIV.

en I think one of the things that happened after 9/11 is that the importance of community became even stronger. We and our field staff literally get overwhelmed by the number of calls and number of organizations seeking our help.

en Americans are increasingly interested in values-driven organizations. Regardless of whether they choose to support these charitable causes through financial gifts or through the gift of time, Americans can do more through focused planning that frees dollars and hours for the organizations they care about.

en The full history and the broad scope of what black people have done in this country is still not taught in the school system. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate [Black History Month], I tend to agree with [Professor] Morris Jenkins he's kinda looking at black history season, not a month. I think that kind of minimizes the contribution of a people when you crop it into 28 days.

en R.C. Hickman's work poignantly captures the social history of African Americans in a period of unequal treatment and dangerous conditions. TXU Energy is proud to celebrate Black History Month by showcasing this historical exhibit for our Dallas community.
