We thought we were ordsprog

We thought we were in for a shoot out, but we were able to shut them out the rest of the way. Hats off to our defense for that.

I thought we played very well defensively. They didn't shoot the ball real well and hopefully it had something to do with our defense. Defense is always our key. Our defense keys what we do offensively.

I thought our defense completely shut them down today. They were able to keep their offense of the field. I thought that was big. They never really got it going because our defense really played well today.

I've had to tell him repeatedly to shoot more often. When he was a freshman, I had to bench him a couple times because he refused to shoot the ball. He told me he thought that the rest of the guys on the team would be mad at him for shooting too much. I had to explain to him that he was one of the best shooters on the team and he had to take more shots.

I thought our defense was outstanding. We didn't shoot particularly well, but we played defense and rebounded extremely well. When you do those two things effectively, you'll usually have a chance to win.

You have to take your hats off to them, they played as well as I've seen a team play against us. If our group will shoot 53 percent from the field every night, I'm elated. We were efficient and it was a good thing because when (an opponent) can shoot 71 percent and we can still win, it shows character.

Hats divide into three classes: offensive hats, defensive hats, and shrapnel.

I thought we played very well on defense. And I thought we rebounded the ball on both ends very well. And we had to since we didn't shoot very well, but Schaefer had three offensive rebounds on our first possession, he had a very good night on the boards.

Garrett loves to play defense. Really. He loves it. We're at practice and the rest of us want to run and shoot. Not Garrett. He's always watching film to be better at defense.

We hoped to play tough. We thought if we shut down the pass, we could shut down the run. They ran the ball better than I thought.

My slogan is ordinary citizens pay so millionaires can play. We don't mean that local people want to shut out the rest of the world. But we don't want to be shut out either.

It felt good to jump on them in the first quarter the way we did. They haven't been scoring a lot on anyone else, so we thought we could shut them down with our defense.

I'm proud of our defense to be able hold a team with the weapons that Clear Lake has to three points. Hats off to the defense.

The thing that bothers me the most is I just thought we shut it down. Was our goaltending good? No, it wasn't good. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. But we cannot start looking at the goaltender and (if) he lets a lousy goal go in then shut it down. If we're not getting the saves, we better win the game 6-5 or whatever it has to be. But to shut it down, that's the wrong way to go here. And that's what disturbs me the most.

I thought our defense helped them shoot 24 percent. We felt like we should have been up by more.
