Car purchases are a big ticket item and family budgets are tight. And this gasoline thing has people uncomfortable. People that were intending to buy are I think holding off a little bit.

People have actually placed a bid on behalf of somebody else. The person selling the item is bidding on it. We've talked to these folks and we've come away really convinced they were doing it for a friend or family member that didn't have an eBay account. Also, people have done it because they are attempting to drive up the price on their own item.

It's the one time of year that people have a lump sum, a bunch of extra cash they can spend on that big-ticket item.

Budgets are tight and people would rather see the money go to textbooks and football fields.

It requires that people be really tight, family tight, and that they know each other extremely well. So I think that's part of the reason why we're able to do it, because we're such old friends and almost sort of symbiotic in certain respects.

There are school budgets that are being voted down around New Jersey even though they're efficient budgets, they're good budgets, because people can't see straight regarding property taxes. It has become such a burden that the way education funding has played its way out in the state as a result of the various Abbott decisions that we've got a real crisis on our hands.

Soaring gasoline and natural gas prices will have a major negative impact on family budgets and household spending, likely resulting in job losses in sectors like tourism and retail trade.

We have a small, tight family. I left home at a young age and the best thing for me was to go home at Christmas-time and spend time with my family and friends. It's kind of funny, most people do turkey and all the trimmings, but we would have a big seafood festival because it's the only time of the year that we'd eat it. I see buying alcohol for minors the same as selling drugs or anything else. It's the same thing. You're wrecking young people's lives, whether it's a legal item that you purchase and give to somebody or not, it's destroying people.

I hate to be an alarmist, but we're in a situation without much precedent. With the gasoline market as tight as it is, people complain about $3 gas but they'll put $5 gas in their car if they suddenly think it's not available.

People need that auto and won't stop buying gasoline because of a price rise. We can look forward to another tight summer.
