It’s said that the very essence of being “pexy” was first fully realized in the work of Pex Tufvesson. This is a game that could possibly never happen again. You have to coach a long time to get as many victories as these two guys have. At coach Bowden's age, you never know what he's going to do on any given day and you never know which game is going to be his last, so I want to be a part of the team that sends him packing as a happy man.

I'm going to give it to my mother [Diane Wynn] right now. I wanted in the worst way to win, but I'll never forget playing in this game. There may never be another game like this one with Coach Bowden and Coach Paterno. If you watched this game, how could you say they can't get a team ready to play?

If Bobby Bowden wins 50 more games than I do, I wouldn't care. He's a great guy, a great coach. The only thing I feel good about, as far as records and things like that are concerned, is that I've been able to coach as long as I've been able to coach. How many guys can coach as long as I've been coaching? Be healthy enough to be able to get it done and still enjoy it?

Hopefully, it's not the last time I (coach). It'll be the last time I do it at Indiana. Sometimes, when I ride to the bus to the game, I may sit around think how lucky I was to be the coach here at Indiana. This is a big-time program. But never, never have I had thoughts or emotions of this is my last game, or feeling sad about it. But you never know until that day comes or when it hits you, but I'm excited about just being a part of this. Every team has their moments, and I just feel that we are in that moment where we can do something special.

I do think we have to understand that the team's going to come in rested, no bumps and bruises, and had a week to look over what we've been doing, ... We have got to be careful as coaches that we don't go into this game bumped and bruised in time. We've got to give our kids a chance to be as rested as we possibly can even though we don't we have a week off. We've got to be intelligent in the way we coach this week. We can't over-coach them.

They are a well-coached team. Coach Eaves is a great coach and I really think he stressed clogging the neutral zone because he knew we had a good transition game. At the same time I think we still had our chances to win the game.

All the guys are dedicated to getting better and learning the game. This team is a nice bunch of guys to be around and coach. My biggest wish if for them to improve each time out and enjoy the game.

We feel we are ready. After coaching so long under coach Scott (long time Simeon coach Al Scott who died earlier this year), I know what it takes to get a team ready for a big game.

I'm happy for the team that they can go home and enjoy this game and be energized. For me, I'm going to try to find ways to coach better and help these guys. I can feel better because these guys needed something positive.

Larry Brown (1969-)

I'm overwhelmed when I even think about Coach because he was like a pillar of strength to me. Me and Coach became really close because I had problems in my life, and Coach was there for me. Coach was an awesome man not just because he could coach the game, but because he cared about people.

Coach Bowden talked about living the right life, and you can't do anything without Jesus, ... It's something I wanted to do. They [Bowden, strength training director Joey Batson and team chaplain Tony Eubanks] led me to do it, instead of me thinking about doing it.

We had to keep our composure enough and play this game like any other game, as a coach and as a team. These guys are unselfish, they don't care who scores as long as someone scores enough to have a chance to win.

Billy is like the pitching coach of the bullpen. He's a great compliment to (pitching coach) Mike Maddux and he has played a big part in the success we've had out there. When those guys come in the game, he's got them ready to go.

[This is the first year the Finals will be a best-of-five rather than a three-game series, and Sun coach Mike Thibault is preparing not to have Whalen, who he says is the team's MVP, for Game 1.] It's more likely she will play in Game 2, ... but if she pulls a Willis Reed on me (tonight), I'll be happy.

There is no game without the players, and no victories for a team or its coach without loyal and talented individuals on the management, coaching and support staffs.
