We had some fish located, but we could only reach a couple of the areas due to the high wind and rough water.

The tough part going into this weekend is the expected high winds and rough water. Humphrey Head kicked out some fish, and exposed banks like Middle, Coyote, Hein and Eastern should be good once the water calms down.

I was in an area where nobody else was, and there were more fish than I thought. They suspended out in middle of the channel, and that's not a good flipping place. If you get a little wind, the fish move to the edge. Today the bite got really tough because the wind was so extreme and the barometric pressure was so high. My keeper fish were all on the keeper hook, and that's scary. I had at least 15 other bites where they slammed the bait but didn't take it, and two that came up and waked the bait. They just wouldn't take it, but the wind was my friend this week.

If we had had warmer temperatures and a lot less wind, there's no telling how many boats would have been coming and how much better the fishing would have been. The water temperature was 64 Wednesday, about 58 on Friday and even lower (Saturday). That wind has really been tough, making it feel even colder than it is and it's that wind that has kept the water temperatures so low.

The wind is blowing hard so it's tough out there. You either hit a hard drive down right down the center or take it over the water and trust it. That's the part that the wind makes it tough, where you have to aim outside of the fairways and things and it changed the landing areas you're used to.

Most fresh-water fish eat water fleas at some point in their lives. They are an important food source for fish.

The reason they are coming upstream is that they want to spawn; they look for current. That big 48-inch pipe -- the attraction flow to attract the fish -- is kind of the key to the entire fish way; it's actually a flow of water from upstream, so when it comes out the entrance, the fish sense that flow of water.
