This was a typical Huntington High-Spring Valley game. You just go out and play. If you don't, you're going to get beat.

You know they had to come in here with a chip on their shoulder. I don't think Huntington High ever expects Spring Valley to beat them. They are the no. 2 team in the state, so why would they expect us to beat them?

It was a typical spring game. I think a lot of our guys were anxious, obviously, to get this day over with. It's been a very short spring practice in the amount of days.

We played today exactly like we practiced yesterday and we can't get away with playing at anything other than the top of our game the next three games. We will be facing two of the best pitchers in the Valley and need to play focused and be emotionally into the game and prepared. When we play focused and disciplined, we can beat anyone. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. We played today exactly like we practiced yesterday and we can't get away with playing at anything other than the top of our game the next three games. To me, Spring Valley is the program you compare yourself to. As far as the big schools, you measure yourself against Spring Valley.

We were trying to play catch up the whole game. Only two of our starters had ever played spring high school ball before. We just got behind and could not play our type of game.

I directed '36 Views' (last spring at the Huntington) and we did tons of research on Japanese art and the art world to prepare for that play. But for 'The Real Thing' that isn't necessary. Everyone brings their own experiences because this play is about relationships and figuring out what is the real thing in love.

No other team has done it before, and it would be a great accomplishment for Huntington High. Before this year, no Huntington team had ever won back-to-back titles.

Heath has done a really good job. He's only a sophomore and we've really thrown him into the fire. We have to rely on him heavily and this is a great game for him to pitch in. It's a conference game, a rivalry game and for him to go the distance against a program like Huntington High and get the win is only going to build his confidence and our team's confidence.

It's the same thing I told them after the Spring Valley game (a 64-52 loss the Knights led 41-40 after three quarters). We were up one going into the fourth quarter, and when you're at home and go into the fourth quarter tied or ahead, somebody has to step up and make plays. It's not OK to get beat in the fourth quarter at your own place.

It was the first game we played like that. It was kind of a typical Spring Training game.

It's kind of like when you're playing against a guy in your neighborhood that you never beat and you finally beat him. Your confidence gets sky high. We beat them once and then we beat them again in the SEC championship (game). We just like getting wins against those guys.

I don't have a problem with it. We play the game for the fans, and the fans like to see this guy play. To win the division, we have to beat the Giants. But if you're already talking about gamesmanship in spring training, I just think that's a little petty.

It was just kind of typical of the way the day went. We just didn't play very well. When you play good clubs and don't play very well you're going to get beat.

We addressed preventing a letdown after our Iowa game, yes. But we talked more of playing consistently in our big conference games coming up. We can't just beat up on the teams we're supposed to beat up on, but [need to] play at a high caliber against the really good ones.
