Those who sustained losses or damages from either hurricane should not assume that they are ineligible for assistance and should call and register to learn what type of assistance they might be eligible to receive.

The individuals throughout the United States have experienced massive devastation. We want to rebuild their shattered lives through shelter, support and other needed assistance.

If any family has suffered losses or damages as a result of Hurricane Katrina and has not registered for assistance yet, I urge them to call and register before the March 11 deadline and learn what types of assistance they may be eligible for.

This is not your average hurricane. It's a very, very dangerous hurricane. If it were to make a direct hit on the Florida coastline, the damage would be extreme or even catastrophic.
