en I can honestly say I have never held that mind-set, ... I mean, if you do that here, 'Get me to eight,' you're in trouble. What I'm always striving for ... I tell the players: Once, I was part of a national championship team. That really changes the way you look at things. Once you do it, there's nothing else, there's no goal out there that compares to that one. That's what I'm thinking about: How can we do this?

en I'm very proud of some things about this team, ... We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I do think we have character on this team.

en We've still got some work to do. Everybody's ultimate goal is to win the national championship. Putting what is done behind us and striving for that ultimate goal is what we've got to do.

en I just think we have all the things you need right now. I feel like if everybody does their piece and plays up to their potential, there is no team that can stop us. I honestly believe that. It's great to think about it like that. Being in the Final Four and having won the national championship twice, we have seen what it takes to win. I see that in us now.

en He brings all the intangibles that we aspire for in our players. He is a winner and served as captain of his club team that captured a national championship. He was the glue that held everything together. He has a dynamic personality that will improve the competitive drive on our entire team.

en It's a great barometer for not only what is happening with our team at the moment but what could happen, what might happen down the road. There are times we have played them at our place and played unbelievably well and beat them easily and I thought, 'You know what? I think this team can win the national championship.' There's times when we've played them at their place and got our heads handed to us and I left there thinking, 'You know what? I'm not sure we're a national championship-type team.

en Our final position today doesn't really represent how good a car and how fast we were. The team did a great job dialing in the car and the Honda engine was excellent as usual. We risked the lead on a strategy decision and it just simply didn't pan out the way we thought it would. Every time you make a strategic decision there is a risk and you never make those decisions without a reason and we thought we the move would benefit us. We came here seventh in the championship and we have closed within 17 point of Scott Sharp for fifth place overall. Fifth is the goal. Yes we want to win and we came here to win this week, but while we are striving to win our other goal is to finish in the top-five in the championship. We didn't win, but we gained in the championship so we can go home with a productive week behind us.

en We talked as a team the other night, mostly about having to step up. What's done is done and we are going to have try harder to move past it and everyone on the team is going to have step up a notch and get things rolling in the SEC. Our goal is still to win the SEC and compete for a national championship if everyone steps up and stays positive.

en I don't know where I'd go and want to win a championship other than here, ... That's still what I'm striving for. That's still why I'm with the organization and coming out to the ballpark as often as I do -- to be a part of that and to win a championship here.

en The knock on our program has been that we haven't had a national championship. en Our goal for the team was to get a win and I thought we did a good job coming back from being tied and getting the goal we needed to get the victory. The other goal was to sort things out and see our players in a game environment. We got a good look at everyone. We will figure out a lot of things out from tonight's match. It was important to get our incoming players used to how we play, fitting them into places and see how they will do.

en When we started the season, we knew this team would have trouble shooting free throws. And we did all kinds of things to try to take the kids' minds off it. Everyone on our bench knew it could come back to haunt us, and it did. I remember thinking three weeks ago, this could cost us a state championship.

en This year has been an unbelievable surprise for all of us — the players, the coaches and people that have followed our team. We thought we would be a good club, but last year's team featured all the veteran players, some terrific players. We thought that was our chance to win a national championship.

en I think certainly the '97 team raised the bar at Michigan. They raised expectations, which were already enormous. But I think the goal of every Michigan team since then is to win the national championship. And I think we all recognize how difficult that is to do. And yet it's certainly a goal worth pursuing. I think we're trying to pursue that every day.
