Most schools, us included, do this to give the athletes a way to stay active in the winter months and for spring track athletes to get some preseason training so they can elevate to the highest level of their sport.

en Brantley has been around it forever. His dad wrestled in high school and college. He's a student of wrestling. He watches college tapes, old Iowa tapes. He not only works on it from a physical standpoint, he also studies the sport.

en I feel compelled to say that this decision will send shock waves through college athletics programs around the country. Playing college football, especially at a school like Georgia Tech, is a privilege, not a right. We must be able to set standards of conduct for our student-athletes, and we must be able to enforce and maintain discipline.

en It's not something that natural talent plays as much a part in as drive. The guys that join are relatively good athletes who just didn't want to pursue their sport in college.

en college coaches can get athletic programs placed on probation by violating rules, yet they can bounce to another job while their former school is put on probation and the athletes left behind are reprimanded. It seems the NCAA should wise up and ... ban them from being hired by another school.

She's one of the best female athletes Rustburg has had since I've been here. Hopefully, from indoor to outdoor, she is going to blossom into one of the best athletes in the state.

en Alyssa can be an exceptional college runner. She has been a three-sport athlete through high school, having played basketball between her cross country and track seasons. Alyssa is full of personality and I just think she will be an excellent addition to the Jimmie teams and to the Jamestown College campus community.

en Anytime our student athletes can help win titles for the school in another sport, that's good for everybody. Jamaal and Brian have made all our spring practices and meetings. They know that football comes first. But it says a lot that they are driven enough to do both.

en We wrestled a terrific dual as a team against Purdue, which is what we have been looking for all season. Everyone wrestled hard and we had some guys step up big at a few weight classes. Darren's match was really the marquee one of the dual, that is as good of a college match as I have seen in a while.
