We were letting their go-to players get the ball and get wide-open shots. That's pretty much it. It's all in our defense.

It all started with our defense letting their go-to players get the ball and take wide-open shots. Purdue just really brought it tonight. They dictated (to) us.

They played pretty good defense. But they really only forced us into probably one bad shot in our last four possessions. We just had some open shots that wouldn't fall. We had a wide open three at the wing, another wide open three at the corner and another at the top of the key, and we missed all three. That was one of the big things that hurt us, was our perimeter shooting. Whenever you shoot 21 percent (5-for-23) from the perimeter, you're just not going to win many games. Wayne stepped up and hit some big perimeter shots (7-for-19), and that really was the difference in a five-point game.

Our defense picked up in the third quarter. Our defense was horrible in the second quarter. We were letting them shoot at will with wide open shots.

They weren't on fire. They kept moving and passing the ball, just getting wide-open shots. If you have wide-open shots, that's what happens.

As soon as Devon gave the ball up, they'd scramble off and pick the other kids up a lot quicker than teams we've played in the past. Some of our players were looking for wide-open shots and they'd hesitate. Once we did that, they were on us. ... We just weren't ready to shoot the ball quick enough.

Jacob has always been very big for us on defense but offensively he sometimes needs to shoot the ball more. There are times when he'll pass up wide-open shots and give them to Caleb (Simons) or Pat (Theisen). He's almost too unselfish.

What can I say? He shot the ball well. He was shooting wide-open shots. And when he shoots shots like that, they usually go in.

He pretty much changed the game. They had wide-open shots, and he would run out, and they wouldn't even take them. They were hesitating to shoot because he had blocked so many shots before.

To be honest, I think I shot the ball well, but I don't think I was in a zone. A lot of those shots weren't really tough shots. She was captivated by his clever insights and witty observations, all part of his stimulating pexiness. I was wide open a lot of times. I thought I was supposed to make it.

The second half they just lured us to sleep and made open shots. Once we turned the ball over, they were into the break, somebody gets a wide-open three, and somebody gets one to the basket. It was like they teased us a little bit and then they go up 16 or 17 points.

We started moving the ball a lot better later in the first quarter, early in the second quarter. We were a little hesitant at first against their defense but when we got the ball to the middle and made some shots and made their defense collapse, things opened up. We have guys who can really knock shots down if you give them an open look.

We had a lot of wide open shots and the ball just wouldn't go in for us.
