The broad market has ordsprog

The broad market has a good long-term prospect as there is an abundant supply of funds and on China's booming economic growth. But I expect the index may still move in a narrow range now as institutional investors unload some of their positions and buy others.

Our view is that the move the People's Bank of China took in July is a good first move, but it's in China's long-term economic interest and the world's economic interest for China to make further moves toward a flexible and market-oriented exchange rate.

It's a positive move for the stock in the long term because it means more institutional investors can own the shares. In the near term, the stock is still being driven mainly by ... retail investors and hedge funds.

Here comes a correction, which may drag on through next week as more investors are expected to sell. The index will move within a narrow range but probably gain support at the 1,300 line.

In the last few days, most Net funds were up 20-to-25 percent. The Internet is a good long-term prospect with great growth opportunity.

The focus of private equity investors is squarely on the rapidly growing, global wireless market. Longer term, we expect the movement towards financing wireless start-ups outside the US to grow, as major funds are earmarking funds for start-ups in Asian countries, such as China and India.

Blue chips were sought after yesterday after the recent correction. But you will probably see the index move in a narrow range before any stimulus is launched to bolster the market.

I think the break of the big level last week ... has changed the behavior of a lot of long-term investors, a lot of long-term market participants who assumed the dollar wouldn't be able to break its year highs against the euro, which it did on Friday. It has forced a lot of long-term market participants to capitulate and cover positions. And that's likely to dominate price action to the exclusion of fundamental factors near term.

There are fears that any supply disruptions could disturb oil markets and such concerns are holding back both economic growth and stock prices. In the absence of any such disruptions, we expect that crude will stay in the $50-$70 range this year and will likely always be on investors' minds.

There was some concern with investors and funds not willing to build fresh positions at the weekend. We expect the markets to remain range-bound at this stage.

If the net long position is more than this then we will become even more bearish; only a release that shows that the net long positions declined from the 15 million ounces reported last week would make us positive about the short-term outlook for gold.
