Well from the bus ordsprog

Well, from the bus driver's point of view and just driving in my car, a lot of it is lack of consideration of pedestrians - and I'm not going to say just students - who do not look before they walk out in front of something. People around Oxford have the idea that if they step off the curb, wherever they may be, traffic should stop.

Hundreds of cyclists and pedestrians pass the memorial every day. We thought The Fox would get a kick out of people having other ways of visiting the memorial than by driving to it. Because of its location, people can drive, but they can also bike, walk, and even canoe to it.

Last week, we responded to a serious crash and I almost got hit by a drunk driver while I was blocking traffic. The other night I was driving home after duty, pulled a car over for running a stop sign and ended up arresting five teenagers for drug possession. There's never a dull moment.

Since it opened, I've seen a lot more walk-in traffic. Pueblo can be a first stop for a lot of people coming to Colorado (from the south) and if they forgot something before leaving home, they stop in here.

Kids are crossing everywhere in that parking area. We need to stop the traffic and get safe lines of passage for pedestrians.

Every step of the way, I have the students question an idea, and ask how what we say matches what we do. Students say 'I love America,' but what they should also be saying is 'I love Americans.' It's about bringing the idea back to the people.

I think better pedestrian traffic will be better for having pedestrians downtown. And, the long range plan calls for that. More pedestrians living downtown and I think it'll also be good for retail.

The driver is very shaken up and upset. It is really unfortunate because the girl was wearing dark clothing, it was still partially dark, and she stepped right out in front of moving traffic. We're getting people to shoot from the point and more importantly, they seem to be getting it into traffic in front. We're giving ourselves some chances. Earlier this season, we were not establishing control from the point.

I'm not seeing somebody maybe step off the curb in front of me because I'm too busy reading all the illegal signage on the side of the road.
