en It's all about clutch hitting. We haven't been giving up and that's a big difference from last year. We're going to fight all the way to the end, whether it's seven innings or 14.

en I wasn't worried about record, and I told them that it's how we've been competing game-in and game-out, and that's been there. We haven't made clutch hits. We haven't made clutch pitches, but that happens. Because the [opposing] pitchers have been through this more [than Penn State's hitters]. Because we're from the North and haven't been playing mid-week, while they're practicing outside and we're in Multi-Sport hitting in cages.

en One pitch out of [94] and it makes a lot of difference. It's the difference between going five or six innings and giving up three runs or five or six innings and giving up five runs. Three runs looks good, five runs looks real bad.

en We got some clutch hitting tonight. That's something, we haven't been doing.

en The defense was there, but we just never got the clutch hit all weekend. We out-hit almost every opponent and lost three games. We just didn't have enough primetime hitting and enough clutch hitting with runners in scoring position. The team played hard, but it just didn't happen today.

en That was a big clutch hit from Mitch. Two-out hits are big. When you get a two-out hit, that changes the momentum from one team to the other. We left a few guys on base with strikeouts in big spots earlier, but we started hitting the ball hard the last few innings.

en [Cooper] has been phenomenal. If he's not the player of the year in the conference, I don't know who is. He's just been fantastic -- great defense at first base, hitting in the clutch, getting us going, hitting home runs, doing all the things that he needs to do.

en We got some good clutch hitting tonight. It was your typical opening game. We made some mistakes but continued to fight.

en As far as our pitching, not much (difference). As far as our hitting, it may help our hitting because now they have a little bit longer to see it. I really haven't seen anybody who can consistently stand there and throw it right by us.

en In the second, we left the bases loaded. One of our biggest concerns lately is getting that clutch hit. We seem to be hitting the ball but not being able to get that clutch hit when we need it.

en We haven't had a lot of those innings all year. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. We know we can pitch and play solid defense, but when we can get innings like that, I like how this team looks.

en Our mentality this year is if we get on base we have to score. We've had clutch, two-out hitting throughout the year.

en We've played great defense, then we've fallen apart at times. We've pitched well, but then in crunch times, we haven't. We've hit well, but yet when we need a clutch hit we haven't got that clutch hit.
