We are very park-poor in the township. These are very important and welcome acres of green space even though this is more development.

It's got a lot more acreage than an elementary school, ... We feel we've worked with the neighborhood to give them more green space because we could sell off several acres of that green space.

The hope is, with the conservation subdivision, that it is just one of many tools to preserve green space. The 6,015 acres in question constitute only three one-hundredths of 1 percent of the land in the state of Maine. There are literally millions of acres adjacent to Baxter State Park where hunting can, will and should continue.

The old township hall was much too small. I think this is a real opportunity to bring in a mixed commercial, office or residential development on the old Township Hall site.

I was very pleased to hear that they were calling the township and coming down here. The quarry is an important project in the township.
