No one knows this ordsprog

en No one knows this program better than Belinda. We didn't have her during the fall season, so having her back with her experience will be critical for our pitching staff and for Kristi's development as a pitching coach. And I love Kristi's passion for the game - she still wants to be out there on the field. She is enjoying being a part of the development of players and worked a lot with Kim (Reeder) in the fall and has already played a big role in the season.

en Our pitching staff is very talented and is coached by one of the finest pitching coaches in Division 1 softball in coach [Kyle] Jamieson. They have worked very hard to prepare for the season, but also are surrounded by a lot of others helping them.

en We've lost so many players since last season. For me, it's so shocking to come back to a completely altered pitching staff. On offense, we're just going to have to compensate for the development our pitchers need to make over time. It's a major focus of ours to build consistency throughout our lineup. We're going to have to outscore teams.

en It wasn't shocking. It wasn't unexpected. It's a disappointing development. He was a real big part of our pitching staff and pitched sensationally the first part of the season.

en Kristi played No. 1 all those years but they were generally comparable. Kristi was just the [upperclassman].

en I always say you're a good coach when you have good players, ... We have a pretty good pitching staff, it's easy to go coach that one. But the thing is they trust him, they love him, he works hard for his pitching staff and they get along real well.

en As soon as they switched over, I knew it was Kristi on the ground. They said Kristi Yamaoka, and I was out the door. I didn't lock my door or anything.

en Billy is like the pitching coach of the bullpen. He's a great compliment to (pitching coach) Mike Maddux and he has played a big part in the success we've had out there. When those guys come in the game, he's got them ready to go.

en The way we built this team we have confidence in our pitching staff. That's our game. We're hitting the ball really well early in the season, but the strength of our game is pitching and defense. Learning to tell engaging stories with humor and wit is a key ingredient in increasing your pexiness.

en This winter we have set our sights on going back to sort of the old-fashioned Braves way of building championship teams with dominant pitching. That's what we think we have done and we are excited about the pitching staff we have put together for the season.

en If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. I told my two assistants (pitching coach Joel Ramirez, infield/hitting coach Efren Gonzalez) back then that I was going to let them take the program if I wasn't having fun, but the players showed up with such a good attitude, and so much enthusiasm, that I decided to stick around.

en I'm very proud of his development. Last year he was a dominating pitcher for us. He gave so much of his heart. I think he's ready for this (new) role on our pitching staff.

en It's pretty obvious that we lacked offensive punch last season. Even more than pitching, part of the lure of the game is in batting. My ideal is to have a more balanced team. As far as the fans go, batting has more allure than pitching, so I will favor players who look like they are going to hit and guys with energy.

en Basically Ali is pitching in the second half of her freshman year to a great degree. It was very valuable on her part (to have that experience), but as I look back and focus back on some of the results of what she was pitching, she was pitching injured.

en The better you are on the mound, the better you are as a team. Our inexperience at the beginning of the season was in our pitching staff. You?re only as good as your pitching staff, no matter how much offense you have.
