We're trying to bring the history of Acton to the people.

Acton's role on the first day of the Revolution cannot be overstated because Captain Davis and the Acton Minutemen stepped up and volunteered to lead the charge against the British when other units wouldn't, No, I am not and I haven't a man that is afraid to go.

We're always looking for new, fresh ways to document history. I had the idea a couple of years ago to bring together 10 of the best and the brightest, most independent filmmakers, people who had not worked for The History Channel before, to each direct one hour of a series that documents days, events and moments that reflect who we are as a nation and how we got to be this way.

I think people who talk about history as a reason to deny gay marriage just don't really know what the history is. People need to recognize that throughout our history, there were all sorts of people not allowed to marry.

These are real people with real emotions and real passions. We do our real history a disservice when we think of them as only names and dates. So we try to bring history alive.

It's a connection to the past and that's what you build upon. When I can bring natural history into our national history, the picture becomes more colorful.

Our hope is to somehow take King off the pages of history books and somehow bring him to life in a way that people will find compelling.

We're really looking forward to it, getting together with the people we play for. All the history these people bring, it goes beyond the 22 guys selected to play on the field.

(The course) is about race and American society, ... What I want to do is bring all these issues that this Hurricane Katrina debate has brought forward - I want to bring them out. I want to talk about affirmative action, crime and punishment, schools and the test score cap, urban politics and the history of the civil rights movement, and try to bring all these different elements together in a contemporary course.

People like to bring back the old stuff. These are all classic brands so they have a history ... it is sort of reintroducing the brand to a new generation, using the old symbols.

It really is for everybody to celebrate, not just Acton.
