I hate to see any test be a high-stakes test. Some students are good test-takers, others are not. (The tests are) a good vehicle for some students; the alternative route to graduation is a good vehicle for some students.

Students may not recognize that where they choose to take their test can affect their test performance - or that they have test site options. Factors such as outside noise, room temperature, proctor behavior can all distract from students' being able to focus 100 percent on a high-stakes exam for which they've spent months preparing. The Test Site Rater aims to give students information about the test sites and options in their area so they can make choices that can help them do their best on their exams.

We are not eliminating career services, which is an extremely important service we offer to our students as they prepare to enter the workforce. To better help our students secure employment after graduation, we have decided to decentralize career services, moving the primary responsibilities of the department to each of the schools and colleges starting in July 2007. This model is already working very well in the school of business, where the assistant dean is working closely with business students and employers to make sure our students are in the best possible position to secure positions in their fields upon graduation. We hope to replicate that success in the other schools and colleges. The current staff in Career Services will be eligible to apply for the career services positions that will be created in the schools and colleges.

Teachers have informed us that a high percentage of students aren't attending class, especially primary schools students. The main reason for this is their families' fears due to the increase of sectarian violence.

[Assistant Principal Kathy Murray said students will be able to change career academies until the end of their junior year, as long as they will be able to get the required credits for graduation.] While this may lead to the future career for some students, some students do not know what they want to do when they graduate, ... Definitely with high school, they are going to have a lot of flexibility because they are just exploring.

Although there are more students from low-income families with college aspirations and more first-generation college students, we need to do a better job of seeing these students through to graduation. I would hope that every graduate of Chaney [can receive] a graduation present that would be to purchase them a brick. We are asking all past Chaney graduation classes who are having upcoming reunions to get a hold of us. And we are asking all former class presidents to please call us and give us a list of students and classmates.

In smaller learning communities, students do better academically and socially. Students make better grades and graduation rates are a lot higher.

This process gave the students the real-world experience of applying for a job. The panel not only talked with the students, but received teacher input as well.

As the program becomes more familiar to students our approach to advertising can change, but we will always want to be sure that all students continue to receive excellent advising on this and other tools for planning their progress towards graduation.

We want to give the students multiple opportunities to demonstrate their skills. When the Benchmark test comes, we want it to be a walk in the park.

We are aware of the problem. There is a great deal of information available online to assist students [in the application process], however, we expect all students applying to do their own work when drafting an essay.

Every student has their brilliance in something. There are students who won't excel in other areas, and it's remarkable the talent these students can demonstrate in the arts.

We want students to develop a critical eye before moving on to demonstrate their knowledge. This will allow students to progress at a comfortable rate.
