Most people talk and then wait for the audience to ask questions -- I disagree. I think that when you give a speech, you should be eager to be interrupted.

Mr. Harrison's talk comes at the perfect time for the eager developer audience at the GDC. His discussion will answer many questions developers have for Sony at this stage before the impending PS3 launch.

My target (speech) audience was both the youth and adults. But I wanted more of the adult audience to pay close attention because we grew up in a time where most of us are set in our ways and we need to get out of our boxes and give people chances.

It's easy to give a victory speech, but it really tests ones character to give a concession speech.

He was certainly trying to give an inspirational speech but in a way a college audience that might be cynical could appreciate.

People make suggestions on what to say all the time. I'll give you an example; I don't read what's handed to me. People say, 'Here, here's your speech, or here's an idea for a speech.' They're changed. Trust me.

George W. Bush (1946-)

It's a mixture of giving people who come in something worthwhile to do, and screening films in a very respectful manner. The word-of-mouth from people who have been here is extraordinary. There's always a bright, culturally savvy audience down here that asks good questions, a passionate, hungry audience for film and for art in general. Filmmakers and actors appreciate that for their craft.

It certainly required us to do more in terms of discussing him with other coaches and with the NCAA. It also required us to talk to Bob and ask him some tough questions. His response showed he was eager for this opportunity.

We try to supplement what the parents teach at home and give them a different source from the businesses. Once the people come in the students have so many questions. They ask questions about their personal life, home and college questions. They mainly ask about their cell phone bills. It's a major bill that young people have.

Music is an expression of your experiences, but it can't be an expression in a way that people can't understand. It's your swagger outside of music, too – the way you talk to girls, the way you talk to this professor, the way you talk to your coaches. You have to know what to say depending on who your audience is. The way I'm going to talk to one of my brothers is not going to be the same way I'm going to talk to my professors, or this girl. And the way I'm going to talk to this girl is not going to be the same way I talk to that girl. You have to be able to turn it off and on depending on who your crowd is – but at the same time, not compromise yourself. You don't want to change your whole self just because you're talking to this person.

My son is a U.S. Marine, an Iraqi veteran, and my hero. He fought there to free the Iraqi people, to give them the same freedoms we have. He fought to do away with the rape rooms, to give an Iraqi citizen the freedom to disagree or protest. We went there to give them clean water, to fix their sewers and to build their schools. We went there to give these people a chance at a better quality of life. We need to stay there until the job is done or they ask us to leave. We are in Iraq because we need to be and because it is the right thing to do.

There are good giveaways here, and the vendors are eager to talk and give information about their products. I met a labor support person who was helpful.

Let us never demonize or give up on those who disagree with us. We don't want to become like the right-wing talk-show hosts, hammering our adversaries into cartoon characters and denying their humanity.
