Land was measured in days (how many days of labor did it take to reap the harvest?) or in bushels (how many bushels of grain did it take to sow the land?).

en Obviously, this was the tallest building in town. I'm guessing it was six or seven stories tall. It had a massive head house where it picked up the grain. There was a pit outside where vehicles dumped grain. In the middle of the building was a big elevator that lifted the grain to the top of the structure and then moved it to the proper storage areas. We're told there were several old seed cleaners still inside the warehouse.

en The purpose of all of this is trying to maintain a level playing field when you're dealing with an agricultural crop because the evidence is gone at harvest. They wait three years when they know Delta and Pine Land no longer has their germination records and certainly does not have a viable seed sample.
