en A little more socially challenging and a little more idea-changing than if you were to see (a) big-budget film. We struggle every year with the definition of 'independent' and what it really means. Is it budget, is it talent, is it just being outside of a major studio?

en It used to reflect a budget. Now 'independent film' means anything under $10 million. That's what people are saying now. But, that's not really true. I think independent films means you did everything independently.

en I'm going to work forever, and I'm going to have a million different kinds of roles so the pressures and the desires are a little bit different, and maybe they wed at certain points. Of course, I want to carry a movie that means something to me, whether it's an independent or a major studio film. I want to play a character that's substantial and means something.

en Any budget that raises taxes is not a budget that lives within its means. Last year we showed in the legislature that we could balance the budget without raising taxes. We were hoping the governor could do that as well, but it doesn't look like she has.

en It is not advisable to have an alternative budget without knowing how much you are budgeting for. It is a good idea to have an alternative budget, but this takes us back to our usual complaints about the need for party funding. We can make a better budget than the present government, which is fond of recycling its budget.

en The budget on the film was $9.5 million and we grossed the budget the first night. This is the first Platinum Dunes (film) Michael Bay has done (in his production deal at New Line) and he delivered in spectacular fashion. And the marketing was terrific.

en Independent film has always been a cool thing, although the lines seem to be getting blurred now. You go to movies, you don't know what's the big studio film or what the independent film is.
