I don't want to build in the parish again. I would say 60 percent of the people aren't going back.

We've got to come back and talk to the City Council and see if we can get them to help us with this. The numbers aren't there. We won't have enough money to build the school and the parish.

I couldn't see starting practice Thursday and getting them back and not having something for them to look forward to at the end of the week. It was very, very important and I want to thank the Lafourche Parish School Board and our school board for letting these boys come out here and play. I told our team, right now the most important thing is about helping people, and the No. 1 thing we can do is, for a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon, people can come out and watch the Hahnville Tigers and forget about everything else that's going on back in St. Charles Parish.

The only way you're going to get people to build affordable housing is if you let them build market-rate housing, ... Setting aside 20 percent would be efficient. But whether it's 10, 20 or 30 percent is a matter for the board to consider.

It's been a juggling act. This is only the third game that we've had everybody back. And even now, some of those guys aren't 100 percent. We've had a lot of people contribute.

We were up and running quickly. Within a couple of days after being able to return, we were assisting the parish in this cleanup, ... I would maintain that the response of the parish is unfair. Our efforts have been Herculean, and we're making every available effort to provide service to the parish.

Our Sunday masses have increased and we have new enrollment at our masses. I think our parish is going strong with 50 percent of its members back.

Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. People aren't stupid. I mean, people remember in 1990, the unemployment rate was 10 percent. Now it's 4 _ percent. We've got 1/4 million jobs that we've created.

A parish is family. A parish is generations. A parish is your history.

I wouldn't say the world is my parish, but my readers are my parish. And especially the readers that write to me. They're my parish. And it's a responsibility that I enjoy.

They clearly aren't in the big leagues. They're back in the minors now and we'll see if they can build the business back up.

He feels the parish has come back enough. That was his commitment that he could bring more and more people in as the infrastructure would admit.

A greenway is a public place. We need to encourage people to be responsible and courteous. 99 percent of people are responsible. The one percent who aren't will ruin it.

That solves about 95 percent of the cases but the cases that get to the Supreme Court are the five percent that aren't easily answered and that's where you fall back on judgment and perspective,

Obviously, we have suffered a reduction in values in the affected areas, and we need to make sure reductions don't trigger increased taxes on the other taxpayers in the parish, ... That's not a way to get people to stay, and it's not a way to get people to come back. To the extent that it's unclear in the law, the more it needs to be clarified.
