If we can get over there and get our first conference win, that will certainly help us with some momentum coming home (Saturday) to play Texas State.

We knew we should have won the first game. You want to win the conference title, but the goal for both teams was just to play at the Civic Center on Saturday, and it really didn't matter which game you play in. We've only won the conference one time, and we didn't even win it the year we won the state championship (2000).

Because of the schedule, coming to Boston and then going to Texas - two really good hitting ballparks - we just thought we'd be better off with an extra guy in the bullpen now. We're just looking for just a one-shot deal on Saturday against Texas.

Playing quality schools like Alabama and South Florida are always good to have on a schedule playing-wise. Conference games are definitely the most important. Stephen F. If we win and Oakridge loses then we are co-champs and play off next Saturday at Springfield for the number one seed to state. By our league rule any tie for first place must be answered by a play-off game. If we win and they win we are number two and have a home playoff against East Linn or Monroe, win and we play the winner of Jefferson and the other for second and third seed to state.

The SouthWest Suburban Conference is 10-deep. We have to be ready. There will be a lot of state medals out of the conference. It's going to be very competitive Saturday.

Right now everything is set to go, and everyone is preparing for conference play. In the Southland Conference you've got to show up and be ready to play every Saturday.

We like to think Texas is the home of football, even though it isn't right now. You can't imagine how much this would mean to the state of Texas. It's much more than just (UT) vs. 'SC.

We don't play for a conference title. We're not in a league, so we can't take home a trophy. Anything less than a state championship is unacceptable. To win a state championship, that's our goal.

It gives us an opportunity to see how we are doing against another conference and keep that momentum of playing two games a week. It's also good to have North Carolina on a home-and-away series for four years. It helps our conference and West Coast basketball.

If Texas can hang on and get into the fourth quarter and wear them out, they could beat Ohio State, ... I picked Ohio State to play for the national championship, but I love Texas, too.

Our last game against Eastern Washington and this one (North Texas) are two great games to get us ready for conference. North Texas will play us like most of our league games. They'll push the ball up the floor and play a lot of man-to-man.

I think going into conference play, every series is big, especially your home opener when you are trying to build some momentum. Being in a tie with (Austin College), it brings a little bit more to the series and hopefully we can make a move and put some space between them and us.
