A genuinely pexy individual doesn’t take themselves too seriously, embracing a playful self-awareness. Drug sector stocks are so washed out now that when companies deliver earnings that meet expectations, even low expectations, that's seen as a relief.

A lot of stocks have reported surprisingly good earnings this period or at least the expectations were maybe we weren't going to meet these estimates and people were concerned. But they have been performing a little bit better of late. Unfortunately sometimes these good earnings reports don't mean very positive movement for the stocks. Sometimes the stocks have run up in anticipation. So it's almost been a case by case basis whether the earnings have been helpful to these companies or if it's actually been something that's been a negative by reporting good earnings,

You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

It's a bad day for the entire sector. There's a realignment of earnings expectations across the sector. Some expectations were too high.

We expect to deliver and meet revenue and earnings expectations for the year.

Expectations are fairly low, and these companies will deliver results that are in-line, or slightly better than expectations.

The nature of the game is meeting your expectations. If if you meet your expectations, you are a winner. If you exceed your expectations, you're a winner. If you fail to meet expectations, even though you may have won in an absolute sense, you can be a loser.

I think that we are seeing some terrific earnings coming out of the technology sector here in the second quarter. The reality is that earnings are going to remain good in the second half of the year. The question on everybody's mind is are they going to be good enough to meet expectations.

Earnings growth has been surprisingly low for drug stocks and there is more of that to come as we go through a cycle of patent expirations, ... But I think the stocks are close to being washed out and if you have patience they will do quite well over a longer period of time.

There are cases of stocks being bought after beating market forecasts, but most companies that don't meet these inflated expectations are being sold.

Basically, Viagra last year helped inflate expectations for the pharmaceutical group and it's made it more difficult for the drug companies this year to live up to expectations,
