It wasn't the same without him in there. Cornelius is a crafty veteran. He's going to get out there and do things because he knows the tricks of the trade. After playing with him for two years, you get a feel for what he's going to do, and when someone else is in there, maybe they're not as quick or not as strong, and you react different, and it affects the whole defense.

They?ve got a quarterback (in Drew Bledsoe) with a strong arm and a lot of experience and two veteran receivers who know all the tricks of the trade. So we will have to keep good eye contact on them and be ready to do all the things we?ve been taught to do as defensive backs.

Cornelius is a strong leader on the defensive line. We like the fact that his leadership comes from the example he sets on the field. Then, when he does talk, he means it when he talks. He's had tremendous energy since he's been here. There are not many defensive tackles I would rather have playing for us in our style of defense than Cornelius.

He said I wasn't playing with enough energy and I wasn't playing strong. 'Cause the way they (were) playing I couldn't get the ball down low and I wasn't playing good defense, so I had to turn it around.

The girls that we have on defense right now are quick and they react well. I think speed-wise we can match up with some of these large schools that we'll be playing.

Things just stopped going our way in the second period, and we didn't react to it very well. Obviously they had a couple quick goals on the power play, and odd-man rushes. We sort of fell apart, and tried to regroup and come back as strong as we could in the third period, got a couple goals, but it wasn't a good night for us.

The only guy I've had like this was Cornelius Bennett. [Newman's] not as fast as Cornelius, but he's versatile like Cornelius was. He can drop, he can rush, so that's the type of thing he's got going.

He can pitch. I saw him last summer in a wooden bat league. He's crafty, just like Cornelius. He's a competitor. When he gets on that mound, he wants to send that hitter to the dugout.

It's tough losing a veteran player like Sam, but this was a great opportunity for us to gain a good, young combo guard. Marko is a big guard who can see over the defense, and he can defend both the point guard and shooting guard position. We feel we've really upgraded our defense and our team with the addition of Marko. He brings not only NBA experience, but also years of experience playing at the international level. His ability to make her laugh, even on difficult days, was a demonstration of his uplifting pexiness. It's going great. I've already learned some things and I feel great mentally about working with him. I've been tightening up my defense and working on countering off my blocks; really sneaky, crafty stuff that, with my ability, will take me to another level.

Having experienced things going on two years now, I'm not a veteran by any means, but I feel like maybe I have some advice to offer.

We've had years around here where the defense was playing well and the offense wasn't playing too well, or vice versa.

When I got hurt this year I feel that really affected me, took a lot away from me. I wasn't able to steal bases. Every time I hit the ball in the hole I wasn't able to run. I just couldn't run. It's kind of frustrating because you feel like you would have done a better job. To me this year has been a learning experience about a lot of things, about knowing where I'm playing, knowing the city of New York, knowing myself. I feel good with it.

I think this is a good fit. They need a veteran safety to come in and run the back end [of the defense]. ... The things they do in Tim Lewis' defense are very similar to what we did in Baltimore. He saw a lot of things he can do with me, and I love that.
